President Opening Speech

Dear honorable guests, colleagues, participants, distinguished executive members of the Tunisian audiometrists professional body, ladies and gentlemen. It’s a great pleasure to welcome you all to “1er Congrès d’Audiologie et d’Audioprothèse en Tunisie” in Hammamet from the 2nd to the 4th of September 2022.

This event comes after the success of the audiometrist National Day in 2021, despite the inadequate world health circumstances resulting from COVID19.

Many people around the world are impacted by hearing and balance disorders that can profoundly affect their daily activities as well as their quality of life. The World Health Organization estimates about 1 out of 4 individuals will suffer from some degree of hearing loss by 2050 (WHO March 2021). Today, these disorders are the focus of numerous research studies and innovations in the field of audiology.

Despite an advanced social policy ensuring the support of the hearing impaired, we still have much work to do amid the development of new technologies and methods of hearing care.
Hence, the objective of this international event is to discover the latest scientific research and innovations in the auditory field including hearing aids, implantable devices as well as pediatric and vestibular diagnoses. Well-known experts and researchers from multiple countries in the Arab world, Europe and Northern America will participate in this event and share their research and experiences. Additionally, audiometrist, audiologists, ENT doctors, and speech and language pathologists will be joining us to take part in this summit.

Our aim is to achieve great success with this international event, and make Tunisia a place of gathering for experts in the field of audiology in Africa and the Arab world.
